SAIGON WANDERINGS (2020-)
Since moving to Ho Chi Minh City in 2020 to pursue my university studies, I have had a great chance to explore Vietnam's largest city. What makes Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, so attractive for the majority of Vietnamese people to come there and start their careers? As someone who was born and raised in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, I developed a deep curiosity about Ho Chi Minh City throughout my childhood and teenage years. How’s life in there? Fascinated by the city, which stands as a symbol of Vietnam’s economic rise, reflecting modernity and financial growth rather than the historical significance of Hanoi, I spend my free time after long, exhausting university courses and assignments riding my scooter across the city, exploring wherever the road leads me.
This project is not really a careful researched documentation; rather, it consists of spontaneous casual rides to enjoy the breeze and then something I happen to stumble upon along the way. Wandering around has been my hobby when I moved to this city. Sometimes I head to my favourite spots that I visit almost everyday or every week, other times I just roam around the city, sometimes close to home, sometimes way out somewhere new.
